It is a pleasure to advise that our next Anglican Schools Australia (ASA) annual conference will be held in Brisbane in August 2017. We will convene at the Brisbane Convention Centre to celebrate the theme JOY.
ASA provides a unique network for principals, chaplains, board members and staff and the Brisbane Conference will again provide us with opportunities to know how powerful and beneficial this network can be.
As Anglican schools, we educate and care for children, staff and families of all faiths and none. There is great diversity within and between our schools and we see this reflected across ASA's membership. It is this great diversity that allows us to have fruitful and powerful discussions to enable us to find our common points of connection and therefore our great strength as a network of Anglican schools.
Because of the special nature that comes from a conference that combines the spiritual leaders of our schools together in one space, our annual conferences provide a unique opportunity for the feeding of our souls along with the affirmatiion of what it means to be an Anglican school in Australia today.
Along with the regular programs for chaplains and school leaders, let me commend to you the special day for emerging leaders at the very start of the program. Providing opportunities to learn about the special nature of Anglican schools in a broader setting will be invaluable for those on our staff who are to be the leaders of our schools in the future.
I commend the work of Dr Mark Sly and his organising committee who have been excited by a theme that they know will uplift and inspire those in attendance.
I look forward to seeing you all in Brisbane where we will celebrate JOY.
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Psalm 100.
Joy is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. In schools today it is easy to get overwhelmed by policies, regulation, compliance and bureaucracy. It is easy to become consumed by the routine and the mundane and to lose sight of the wonderful opportunities we have each day to work with young and enthusiastic minds. We have an enormous privilege to be surrounded by impressive young people and to help shape their futures. There is so much joy in our roles and in our schools that it should be celebrated.
The theme of the 2017 ASA Conference in Brisbane is Joy. The focus of the conference will be to create a joyful experience for attendees and to celebrate many of the wonderful aspects about working in schools. We are sure you will feel uplifted and inspired throughout the conference. Coming to Brisbane in August is surely a joy in itself.
So mark these dates in your calendar now: 10-12 August 2017 for the ASA Conference in Brisbane. I look forward to seeing you all in Brisbane as we celebrate Joy.
Joy is a fruit of the spirit. If we live by the spirit let us also be guided by the spirit. Gal 5:25.
The Conference program and registration brochure will be mailed to all members in March 2017.
